The High Park Demons Women’s Team competed with a full squad at the AFL Canada Cup on May 13th & 14th in Hamilton. The team finished in 5th place, but supported other teams in the playoffs to help them have full squads. Congratulations to Calgary/Burnaby for taking home the cup!
We would also like to congratulate Emma Hepburn for winning honourable mention for Rookie of the Tournament! Everyone played exceptional, and there were so many memorable plays that we will reminisce on forever such as Jude’s first ruck, Julie’s strength in the mid fields, and Gobi’s mark’s in the forward line. Although this was the team’s first time playing all together, it certainly will not be the last!
Thank you to our coaching staff Sarah, Woz and Vera for coaching the team and supporting them throughout the tournament. Your words of knowledge and encouragement made everything possible and the games couldn’t have happened without you all.
We would also like to thank everyone who came out to support our Women’s Team and volunteered during the tournament!
